On the 6th of July International Olympic Committee President, Jacques Rogge, announced London as the Host City for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
The active support of so many people made our success in Singapore possible. “Celebrate Sport” involved thousands of people right across London showing their tremendous support for London’s Bid through sport and physical activity and joining over 3 million people right across the UK who registered to 'back the bid'.
As so many people benefited from the services laid on as part of “Celebrate Sport”, we will be working with our delivery partners to try and sustain the programme. Details of future events will be available from this website. For more information on the activities that were available last time, and their providers, please see below.
We now have a chance to deliver a Games that promotes the timeless values of international sport, the cause of competitors everywhere and engages and involves more young people in sport. You can keep up to date with London’s progress over the years ahead by visiting www.london2012.com
Thank you London, Thank you UK- London 2012
